Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and lead children in the Learn & Play Center.
  2. Help to plan, organize, and deliver activities and programs.
  3. Demonstrate and teach activities.
  4. Develop positive relationships with children, parents/caregivers, and co-workers.
  5. Help cultivate a positive culture by modeling healthy relationships and open communication.
  6. Lead the Learn & Play Center in creating a compassionate and nurturing environment.
  7. Follow program standards in regards to safety, cleanliness, and age appropriate programming and interactions.
  8. Know emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them.
  9. Report specific problems or needs to supervisor or designated staff person.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
  11. Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.

Qualifications

  1. Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
  2. Previous experience in a child care or babysitting position(Trainings/certifications below are offered in the YMCA Training Program)
  3. American Red Cross CPR-PR/AED/First Aid Certifications or equivalent certifications approved by the YMCA
  4. American Red Cross Blood Borne Pathogens Training or equivalent training approved by the YMCA
  5. Y Leaders Orientation
  6. Y Emergency Procedures Training
  7. Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, crawl, use their hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with arms and hands and lift up to ten pounds of weight. Vision abilities required by this job includes close and distance vision. Visual, auditory and verbal ability is required to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity.
