POSITION SUMMARY:

Operating within the policies, procedures, and practices of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, this position is responsible for performing general cleaning and simple maintenance duties at the Wellmark YMCA Aquatic Events.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS:

  1. Perform general housekeeping functions, such as vacuuming, trash removal, and cleaning.
  2. Handle simple maintenance items and notify supervisor or management staff of issues as found.
  3. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
  4. Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
  2. American Red Cross CPR-PR/AED/First Aid Certifications or equivalent certifications approved by the YMCA
  3. American Red Cross Blood Borne Pathogens Training or equivalent training approved by the YMCA
  4. Y Orientation Session
  5. Y Emergency Procedures Training

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity
  2. Ability to adapt to changing working conditions
  3. Ability to work with a variety of cleaning equipment and tools
  4. Ability to perform moderate to strenuous physical activity including lifting, carrying, cleaning, bending, and squatting

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to work with diverse group of peopleAbility to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously
  2. Good organizational skills
  3. Ability to work with minimal supervision
  4. Attend trainings and/or courses as required by the YMCA

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. This position usually works in an office and/or fitness oriented environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces. This position works a standard work week, but additionally will often work evening, weekend, and additional hours to accommodate management of program activities, building coverage and representation of the organization at events.
